The southern region, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, is a region rich in history, culture, gastronomy and diverse landscapes. It offers a unique experience for all types of travelers, whether they are looking for relaxation, adventure or cultural discovery.

The Southern region, also known as Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, is located in the southeast of France. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and shares its borders with Italy and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This region is known for its sunny climate, varied landscapes, historic cities and famous seaside resorts.

Provence is an emblematic region of France, famous for its lavender fields, Provencal markets, olive groves, and famous vineyards.
The city of Avignon, with its Palace of the Popes, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The city of Aix-en-Provence is famous for its 18th century architecture and its cultural festivals such as the International Festival of Lyric Art.
The Alps, located in the northern part of the region, offer spectacular views of snow-capped peaks and ski resorts.
The city of Gap is the ideal starting point to discover the mountains and the hikes through the Ecrins National Park.

The Gorges du Verdon, the largest canyon in Europe, offer breathtaking views. They are located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence which is a popular destination for sports enthusiasts and hikers.

The Côte d'Azur is the most famous part of the region, with its glamorous resorts such as Nice, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, and Monaco.
Nice, the fifth largest city in France, is famous for its Promenade des Anglais, its old town and its Matisse museum.
Cannes is famous for its film festival, which attracts the biggest stars of international cinema every year.
The city of Saint-Tropez is known for its picturesque harbor, its sandy beaches and its luxury boutiques.

The southern region also has a rich and varied gastronomy. It is famous for its local products such as olive oil, honey, truffles, herbs of Provence and its renowned wines such as rosé de Provence, châteauneuf-du-pape, and côtes-du-rhône.
